Hi, my name is Chris Naidoo and I have been working for Kiwi & Yuzu training for almost 10 years and have held various roles within that time. I started out as a trainer, teaching management and leadership to develop apprentices and still do this to date, however, I have supported the company in many ways without management and supportive roles.
My current role is to manage the government-funded Skills Bootcamps that we have been awarded and help support my team and our learners to achieve their career goals. I am very passionate about helping learners to achieve their full potential and with the team that we have it can be made into a reality. A day in the life for me looks like – A typical day? I would say that I do not have a typical day! One day could be filled with supporting our learners to achieve their goals and another could be ensuring that our stakeholders and managed and communicated with. I will often find that I work from home, from the office and will also be visiting different workplaces.
Previous to working for Kiwi & Yuzu I worked in mobile communications, where I met our company owner, Michael Steel and the rest is history! The proudest moment with Kiwi & Yuzu would have to be every new day that passes. I have always been proud of my loyalty to the companies that I work for and to make over 9 years is a great achievement and am looking forward to 2025 when I will reach 10 years.
For me, the best thing about working for Kiwi & Yuzu would be the responsibility that I am given within my role, but also the freedom in how to achieve it. The knowledge and the development that I have gained is also a huge plus. What excites me about the future with Kiwi? The future for us is limitless, and I am really invested in supporting the company to grow. It will be exciting to see the Skills Bootcamps supporting learners to develop in their careers.
My training approach is all about the learner, I am always thinking about what can help the learners and how I can support them to succeed. I think Skills Bootcamps are really supporting people to gain new work and/or upskill within their jobs. For me, they have really helped people who have needed support to get into a job to do just that.
