Hi, I’m Andy. I recently joined Kiwi & Yuzu as a Corporate Trainer. With a career spanning over 30 years in Retail Management and nine years as a trainer, I am passionate about delivering great service, which I see as a key part of my role. My learners can expect excellent teaching, but even more importantly, they will receive the support and encouragement they need to complete their apprenticeships.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with learners in some fantastic locations, from the DfE and the MOD in London to training buyers for Aldi and Currys. The most unique place I’ve worked is the True Crime Museum in Hastings, where I helped several learners progress in their roles. Additionally, working with young people with learning difficulties and helping them complete their courses and secure permanent roles has been a highlight of my career.

A typical day for me involves checking my email to see if learners have submitted any work to be marked. I then plan for learner meetings later in the week, hold a couple of meetings with learners or their managers, and spend time assessing submitted work. Every day is different, and I could be working from home or visiting learners in their workplaces.

I got started at Kiwi & Yuzu after working with Ruth Cole, our Director of Education and Quality, and deciding to apply for the role. I wanted to further develop my practice and work with such a highly-rated training provider.

My proudest accomplishment at Kiwi & Yuzu so far is achieving a ‘Gold’ in my first Observation of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment. The feedback was fantastic, and it also provided me with new ideas to improve my teaching in the future.

The best thing about Kiwi & Yuzu is the team—we are all focused on doing the right thing for each and every learner and employer. I’m excited about the future here because we are exploring so many new areas, from new apprenticeships and Skills Bootcamps to diversifying into exciting new fields.

My approach to training is to guide each learner to deliver their best, challenging and supporting them where needed, and ensuring they grow within their job roles and careers. Skills Bootcamps and apprenticeships are crucial because learning never stops. The workforce must have access to training and development to continually improve themselves and their employers.
