Emma Cole

Trainer

Emma Cole

Hi, I’m Emma and I’ve worked at Kiwi Education since February 2022 as the Trainer across all our Accountancy and Payroll qualifications, drawing on my previous professional experience working in the Accountancy sector for the past 10 years.

A typical day for me will be meeting two or three learners 1-2-1 either face to face or via a video call. These sessions are usually structured to reflect on what the apprentice has learned recently, whilst also providing an opportunity to set tasks that encourage them to look further and consider how they can apply these newfound skills in the workplace. After each meeting, I will then complete a Teaching Learning Assessment Review (TLAR) and ask the learner and their line manager to comment on the session and the learner’s development. It is always great to involve the line manager in the TLAR process to check that the knowledge and skills learned are being applied to the workplace environment. This is my favourite part of the job, helping others develop and seeing their progress as they move upwards on their
journey. Having previously completed all the AAT qualifications in my career, I am always proud to see my learners follow a similar path through an industry that has given me so much job satisfaction.

Training with Kiwi has offered me a fresh perspective on Accountancy. The best thing about being a Kiwi Trainer is the variety of learners I work with. It is so refreshing to
meet learners from all different backgrounds and ages. No learner is the same, and I get to tailor my training to suit the learner’s needs. For example, If the learner is unfamiliar/uncomfortable with an approach we are using, we look together for an alternate one that is more suitable to their role and experience.

My workplace sessions allow me to witness the practice of new skills which means I see the positive impact our courses can bring to a business. Every learner has had a different route to that end goal and seeing how much they have learned during our time together makes me feel that I have had a positive impact on their careers.
